Helping families understand schools, strengthen literacy, and advocate for their children📚
Supporting families, educators, and students navigating education with clarity, confidence, and culturally rooted literacy.
Our Vision, Mission and Promise
Rooted in Culture. Connected Through Advocacy. Growing Through Education.
We help families and educators understand systems, build confidence, and take aciton that supports every student's success.

Chelsea Sanchez Gonzalez is a former classroom educator who has worked closely with students and families navigating complex school systems.
*Advocacy is a collaborative and educational process--not legal represenation and not a replacement for school services.
I’m Mrs. G — Minnie Flores, an educator, literacy advocate, and founder of Raíces y Growth Ed. My work is rooted in lived experience, professional training, and a deep belief that families deserve clear information, respectful support, and access to educational opportunities without intimidation or confusion.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked closely with students and families navigating complex school systems—often witnessing how language barriers, lack of transparency, and limited access to information can impact a child’s educational experience. Those experiences shaped my commitment to advocacy that is collaborative, culturally responsive, and centered on the child.
Raíces y Growth Ed was created to support families in understanding processes, preparing for important conversations, and making informed decisions that align with their child’s needs. This work is not about replacing schools, but about ensuring families feel confident, informed, and supported every step of the way

Educational Advocacy That Empowers Families & Students
At Raíces y Growth Ed, advocacy is about education, equity, and informed action. I walk alongside families to help them understand school systems, clarify rights, prepare for meetings, and confidently engage in conversations that support their child's learning and development. Advocacy isn't about confrontation -- it's about clarity, confidence, and connection.
What Educational Advocacy Is
- Reviewing academic records, reports, and school communication with families
- Explaining educational terminology, processes, and available supports in clear, accessible language
- Helping families prepare questions, notes, and talking points for school meetings
- Supporting families before and after meetings to reflect, plan, and determine next steps
- Guiding families through evaluations, documentation, and service-related decisions
- Connecting families to resources, referrals, and learning supports when appropriate
What Educational Advocacy Is Not
- Legal representation or legal advice
- Speaking on behalf of families without their consent
- Making educational decisions for families or students
- Replacing school personnel, special education teams, or school-based services
- Guaranteeing specific outcomes, placements, or services
Advocacy is not about conflict. It is about understanding, communication, and ensuring every child has someone infmored and prepared in their corner.

Community Memories
Growing Together: Raíces y Growth Ed Membership Program
Year‑round access. Community‑powered learning.

April 25 Community Gathering — Voices & Raíces
April 25th is a community gathering rooted in literacy, culture, and care. Hosted by Voices & Raíces and Raíces y Growth Ed, this event brings together families, students, educators, creatives, and community members to connect, learn, and celebrate our stories.
This is not a fundraiser gala or a formal program. It is a shared space — one built with intention — where community voices are centered, resources are shared, and relationships are strengthened. Through conversation, storytelling, local vendors, and creative expression, we are creating room for learning that honors lived experience, culture, and family knowledge.
Funds raised in connection with this event support community education efforts, student advocacy, family literacy resources, and future learning spaces led by Raíces y Growth Ed. This work exists outside of school districts and institutions, allowing it to remain responsive, people-centered, and grounded in trust.
April 25th is about showing up — for our kids, our families, and each other — with love, accountability, and a shared commitment to growth.

Support Our Work
Raíces y Growth Ed is sustained through community support, partnerships, and family-centered work. Support helps expand access to educational advocacy, literacy initiatives, and shared resources—especially for families who may not otherwise have access to these supports.
This care allows the work to remain rooted in accessibility, integrity, and trust, while continuing to serve families with transparency and intention. Whether through collaboration, services, or direct support, each contribution strengthens both the mission and the community it serves.
Thank you for supporting work that centers families, honors culture, and prioritizes students.
